The History Of Item Upgrading

World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

The upgrade of an item allows players to increase an item's gear score up to 700, and then add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory and heading to the kiln.

Certain items can be upp'd to increase their stats (like a perfectly made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) and others, like weapons, do not change significantly after an upgrade, so they aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, including attack damage, crit chance and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons come with a flat rate bonus that increases damage per second. A lot of weapons also come with an unaffected bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a group. In certain instances, this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon upgrades on its own.

The cost of upgrading a weapon is contingent on its rarity and level. For example, an +2 weapon requires two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue rise until it requires the higher level of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.

Upgrades to weapons also alter the stats of the base. This is generally a positive aspect, but it may also have negative consequences. In the case of items that are only used in a specific build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance) upgrading them can render them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely fortunate roll.

Armor items can be upgraded to improve their performance. This can boost the base defense of a helm or chest, while belts and gloves will boost their required strength and agility. Armor also offers an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it can sometimes roll back to a lower number.

The upgrade template for a weapon shows the new stats it will gain upon upgrading and their relative values. This means that a weapon will gain 33% attack damage when it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will strike 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.

Rerolling  item upgrade  is possible by pressing the green button in the item menu using the circling arrows. This will roll the item and alter its stats, but it won't reset the weapon's level nor bind to account status.

Armor

A few armor upgrades can make a huge difference to your survivability. Certain sets offer massive increases in poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, which can make traversing tough areas a breeze. In general, the greater defense your character has, the more value you get from every point of health, so it's important to improve your armor as much as you can.

You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four in total each of which requires you to complete a specific side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the primary side quest and completed the corresponding fountain, you can then speak to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrading menu.

The amount of materials required to upgrade each piece of armor will differ. It is possible to use anything from three Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees to upgrade your first armor piece, and between five Rubies or ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade the next one. For example the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep up with a large group of enemies in most cold climates and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded all the way to +20 defense, granting you enough protection to survive an entire raid with a few of your friends.

You can't upgrade armor in the same way as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior it is best to focus on upgrading your armor to increase physical power or the power of spells. It's also worth saving your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll still be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you wear for the final boss battle, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.

By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town, you can unlock perks for your armor. It is generally recommended to save these upgrades for the weapon that you'll use to win the game. For example, the Longsword or Battleaxe. It's nevertheless beneficial to have a few upgrades to the chest armor and helmets to allow you to escape some monsters.

Potions

Potions are bottled substances that, if consumed, give the user an effect on their status for a short period of time. There are five types of potions that have different effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded, enhancing their effectiveness. Additionally the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding glowstone dust or redstone to them.

Upgrades to your potion require a specific amount XP. This can be earned by making them on a craft table, or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. The price of upgrades varies based on the type of potion and the item's rarity as well as Mark Level.

To upgrade a potion, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open an GUI that lets you select the potion you would like to upgrade and the amount of experience they'll provide when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches of up to five at a time and their XP will be added to the total amount of XP you have.

Once a poton is upgraded in quality, it will not deteriorate until you make use of it again or break the bottle within the container it is stored. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will allow you to change the name of the potion.

Version 1.7.2 introduced a few modifications to the mechanism of potions. For instance the splash potions now have a duration of 0:08 (this is not the same as 22.5 seconds shown on the hover display for the item). The table of potion can now be made using four Wood Planks and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players playing Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. Additionally, using a potentio on a full cauldron, it drains the potion and refills the bottle.

Finally, there are lingering potions that are made with splash and dragon breath potions. Redstone is also added to potions that are lingering to increase their effect. The potion table is now organized more closely to the Java Edition, and new potions were introduced, including the potion of leaping and the decomposition potion, and turtle master potions.

Trinkets

A trinket is a small and affordable ornament or piece of jewelry. It may be a reference to a piece of art or a decoration that serves a purpose but is not particularly significant like a trinket. In certain traditions, trinkets are used to signify affection or friendship, specifically between family members.

Players can upgrade trinkets in addition to weapons and armor, as well as potions. They can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate amount in currency. Trinkets unlike other items that can be upgraded, can be traded at will without losing stats.

The upgrade vendors are found in major cities and in the capital of each zone, and in in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased with gold, tokens or fragments of rare trinkets.

Upgrades are a less expensive alternative to purchasing a new trinket. It is possible to upgrade the player for less than 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl of the old one, and will come with an additional upgrade bonus of 1.

Once the old Trinkets have become no longer useful they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded between players which makes them a good alternative to gold.

Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This means that the top-in slot items for each class are first upgraded before their secondary gear, and then other pieces of equipment they won't replace anytime soon (such as a ring or an cloak). When choosing the items to upgrade, players should take into account the preferred statistics of their class. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for a tank player and they want to upgrade their chest, helm and shoulders.

Trinkets can be upgraded to a higher ilvl after they're no longer needed and the new trinket will have an additional 1% upgrade bonus. Re-upgrading will destroy the trinket unless it can be salvaged with the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, but is still cheaper than purchasing an entirely new trinket.
